Miss South Africa, Tamaryn Green, is Officially a Medical Doctor

The exam results are in and as one might expect, the high achieving and high flying medical student, Tamaryn Green, passed with flying colours.

The University of Cape Town (UCT) student announced through social media on Monday that she had checked her results and she is now officially a medical doctor with a MBChB degree in Medicine and Surgery.

It was just last year that South Africa fell in love with this olive skinned beauty, bestowing on her the title of Miss South Africa 2018.

Since then, the 25 year old’s schedule has been busy, a schedule which included making it to the podium at last year’s Miss Universe contest, where she was crowned first princess.

She has also kept her promise of using her influence to do good in the world, which includes destigmatising TB.

She confessed that she had been diagnosed with TB in 2015, but had not told anyone because she was afraid of “being treated differently and being isolated”.

She says that TB sufferers are often discriminated against and she wants to help people understand that there is nothing to be ashamed of and also encourage sufferers to seek help.

Their lives could depend on how quickly they start medical treatment.

Tamaryn’s busy schedule has not however, kept her from hitting the books and making sure that she maintains her high academic standards.

As a result of her disciplined work ethic, it is now officially okay to refer to her as, Dr Tamaryn Green.
