Severe Weather Alert For Free State, KZN, Northern Cape, Western Cape

If you live in the Free State, KZN, Northern Cape and Western Cape, the SA Weather Service has issued some severe weather alerts that you might be interested in.

Heavy rainfall in the morning are expected to lead to localised flooding over the West Coast District, Cape Winelands, Cape Metropole and western parts of the Overberg District of the Western Cape.

Disruptive snowfalls are expected in places over the high-ground and mountainous areas of southern Namakwa of the Northern Cape, as well as the West Coast District and Cape Winelands of the Western Cape.

A Gale force westerly to south-westerly wind of 70 to 80 km/h is expected between Cape Agulhas and Port Edward.

In the extreme eastern parts of the Free State and the central and north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal extending to places along the coast, the weather service have warned of  “extremely high fire danger conditions”.

In the Eastern Cape, disruptive snowfalls are expected over the high-ground areas, including the mountains between Willowmore and Joubertina, the Sneeuberg, Winterberg and Southern Drakensberg.

The intense cold front that hit the Western Cape and southern Northern Cape will spread into the Eastern Cape today. The public and small stock farmers are advised that very cold conditions with snowfalls as well as wet and windy conditions are expected. These conditions will spread to areas over southern Free State and north-western KwaZulu-Natal tomorrow.

Strong interior winds are expected over the southern parts of the Northern Cape, Western Cape and the Eastern Cape.

Severe morning frost is expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, North West, Free State, northern and central parts of the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Highveld of Mpumalanga and western and central parts of KwaZulu-Natal tomorrow.

The cold front is expected to exit the country on 3 July 2018, with fine weather returning over much of the country but maximum temperatures will still be cold over many parts.
